Funeral held for Joey Flaherty

A funeral was held on Saturday for the man who fell from a moving jeep in Westdale on August 24th.

Friends and family gathered at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Flamborough to pay their respects to 27-year-old Joey Flaherty.

Flaherty was in his friend’s jeep on Sunday when he fell out.

He suffered serious head injuries and died in hospital Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Crown, Flaherty and his friend Ryan Grant, who was driving the jeep, had visited some bars after a baseball tournament that night.

Grant, who is a Brantford police officer, is expected to have charges against him upgraded to “impaired driving causing death” at his next court appearance.

He is out on bail but is currently suspended from duty.
