Four boats damaged in overnight blaze at Hamilton shipyard

Hamilton police’s arson unit is investigating after four boats caught fire near Ontario Shipyards overnight Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called around 3 a.m. to Hillyard and Ship streets where the boats were found ablaze within a fenced area.

A spokesperson for the Hamilton Fire Department says two boats were completely destroyed, while two other boats sustained minor damage due to fire exposure.

No injuries have been reported.

The estimated cost of damages is approximately $300,000.

Hamilton police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
