Fort Erie strike looming

80 employees with the Town of Fort Erie are poised to strike.  They gave their union, CUPE Local 714, a strong “strike mandate” Thursday night.  The two sides have met a number of times but they can’t come to an agreement on wages.  On average, a full time worker makes about 26.50 an hour.  Their contract expired at the end of December.  A strike date hasn’t been set yet.
