The official ground breaking hasn’t happened yet, but ground work on the Canadian Motor Speedway in Fort Erie is well underway. The excavators are in place and right now they’re working on moving Miller Creek. The $150-million project will be built adjacent to the QEW between Bowen and Gilmore Roads. It will be primarily a research and development facility to test race car fuel, engines and other parts. But there will also be seating for up to 65,000 spectators. The speedway will feature everything from motocross to snowmobile races. The track was designed by NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon.
