Fort Erie house fire causes nearly $450K in damages

A fire in a home in Fort Erie has caused nearly $450,000 in damages.

Fire Chief Mark Schmitt says it happened shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Queenston Boulevard at Joseph Street.

The homeowner was inside but got out safely, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
