Former Hamilton city councillor and Hamilton Centre MP — Matthew Green — has been named the interim national director of the federal New Democratic Party.
The party announced his appointment Thursday, saying Green will hold the job for three months as the NDP enters a time of renewal and transition.
In a statement, leader Avi Lewis says Green represents a grassroots spirit the party needs to help chart a new direction for the party.
Green was elected to Hamilton city council in 2014 and served as Hamilton Centre MP from 2019 until his defeat in last year’s election.
