All eastbound lanes on Highway 403 near Brantford, Ont. were closed Friday morning after a transport truck went over a guardrail and flipped on its side, causing a fuel leak.

Officers say the accident happened at around 6:40 a.m. Friday morning.

Brant County Ontario Provincial Police closed the area between Middle Townline and Rest Acres roads while environmental experts worked to clean up the mess.

Authorities say between 300 and 600 litres of diesel fuel spilled as a result of two separate crashes both involving transport trucks. No one was seriously injured.

Investigators haven’t determined the cause but say fog and wet weather are being considered.
