Five teens charged after armed camera store robbery in Oakville

Halton police arrested and charged five teenage boys following an armed robbery at a camera store in Oakville last Friday.

It happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Henry’s Camera on Hyde Park Gate near Dundas Street West and Highway 403.

Officers say the group of boys allegedly smashed display cases with hammers and stole merchandise. No injuries were reported.

The boys fled the scene in a white Acura, which was later determined to be stolen from Toronto, and headed eastbound on Dundas Street West.

Just minutes later, a member of the public called police after noticing that the boys were running from the broken-down vehicle near Bristol Circle and Winston Churchill Boulevard.

Halton police were then able to arrest all five boys. The 17 and 18-year-old boys from Toronto and North York are facing robbery-related charges.

They were all held in custody pending a bail hearing.
