Five arrests made in Halton-area auto thefts investigation, one man wanted

Halton police have arrested five men and are looking for another suspect linked to auto thefts in the region earlier this year.

A vehicle theft investigation in Milton in mid-March eventually led investigators to a residence in Brampton.

Further information obtained in early April connected the suspects to 13 auto thefts and attempted thefts in the Halton region and another act of auto larceny in the Waterloo area.

Police have charged four Quebec residents and one Mississauga man on a number of theft and break-in charges.

Aderyen Hadjarab, 29, and Zineddine Naas Arabas, 22, of Montreal, Que., Ahmad Fares, 33, of Laval, Que., and Mecipssa Ikkene, 23, of L’Assomption, Que. were charged on various counts ranging from auto theft to identity fraud and possessing break-in tools.

Rayan Cherchar, 20, of Mississauga, Ont. was also charged with seven offences.

Hadjarab, Naas Arabas and Ikkene were all on prior forms of release at the time of their arrests.

A warrant has been issued for Hamza Diazali, 20, of Laval, Que. for 25 offences of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with probation and unauthorized use of a credit card.
