Falling ice concerns prompt closures around CN Tower

Toronto Police closed areas around the CN Tower again Tuesday because of ongoing concerns with falling ice.

Police say the following closures and road restrictions are effective immediately.

  • Bremner Boulevard is closed between Lower Simcoe Street and Rees Street
  • CN Tower: full closure
  • Steamwhistle Brewery and The Rec Room: full closure
  • Ripley’s Aquarium: full closure
  • Rogers Centre: gates 1-6 closed

The Air Canada Centre is open but police say people going to tonight’s Raptors playoff game should give themselves extra time.

The doubleheader between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals is going ahead as planned but people will have to enter and exit the Rogers Centre from the west and south sides of the building.

Officers were first called about chunks of ice falling from the CN Tower on Monday morning.

That prompted several road closures and the cancellation of the Jays game that day.
