Falling balcony sparks downtown Hamilton road closures

A damaged balcony that looks to be hanging on by a thread at a downtown apartment building has prompted temporary road closures in Hamilton’s Durand neighbourhood.
Bay Street is closed between Hunter and Jackson streets while crews work to secure the area.
Ward 2 Coun. Cameron Kroetsch said in a statement that Hamilton Fire Department is on scene, and residents should avoid the sidewalk in front of the building for the time being.
In case you’re seeing this damaged balcony in the Durand neighbourhood, please know the Ward 2 Team has called this in. Please avoid the sidewalk in front of the building until the balcony has been properly secured. I’ll post again when I know more. #HamOnt pic.twitter.com/c0SJ11sr1e
