A $1.08 million provincial funding boost will help REACH Niagara expand team-based primary health-care access to the region’s most vulnerable.
This organization delivers healthcare to those in shelters, supportive housing, encampments and other vulnerable spaces across the community.
This funding will help expand REACH’s street health care, shelter-based care, encampment outreach, access to supportive housing services and interdisciplinary primary care.
“For many in our community, we are the only healthcare option. As homelessness continues to rise across Niagara we are not only seeing more people, but we are also seeing more complex health needs,” says Carolyn Dyer, executive director of REACH Niagara.
“We are incredibly grateful to the province for seeing the need that we do and for their support in this work of meeting and caring for people where they are.”
By expanding its services, REACH Niagara continues to ensure those who traditionally face health-care barriers can finally receive accessible, patient-centred support.
With this investment, the organization aims to connect 2,500 Niagara community members with ongoing primary care.
