Truth is the directorial début for writer/producer James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down) and stars Robert Redford as CBS news anchor Dan Rather and Cate Blanchett as his producer Mary Mapes. The film is based on Mapes’ memoir recounting the backlash the network received after airing an investigative story suggesting President George W. Bush received preferential treatment while a member of the Texas Air National Guard.

We spoke with Vanderbilt when the film screened at TIFF 2015. Truth is currently in select theatres across Canada and is rated 14.
