From writer/director Richard Linklater, a new “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused set in the world of 1980 college life. Everybody Wants Some is a comedy that follows a group of friends as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
Russell (son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn) was an amateur hockey goalie before breaking into acting, and in an interview with The Mary Sue, he spoke about how the athlete’s relationships in the film mirrored real life. “The comradery built in a relatively short period of time in this movie is really how team comradery is built in college. I played junior hockey in Canada, and you move up by being recruited. And you were the best player on your team or league, but when you are move up, you are back to the middle of the pack and have to fight your way back up. And in college, there are upper classmen who are four years older that you have to compete with. And in my college experience, I became close with my college teammates really fast, even though I only stayed for two years.”
Everybody Wants Some is rated 14A.
