One of Canada’s D-Day veterans was laid to rest in Ottawa on Saturday.

Ernest Côté died of natural causes last week, he was 101-years old.

Côté was a lieutenant colonel in the army during the Second World War, he was involved in planning the invasion of Normandy. He went on to have a distinguished career in public service.

Côté’s daughter described him as “an old school gentleman.”

Many Canadians came to know Côté more recently when he survived a home invasion at his Ottawa condo last December.
