Elderly pedestrian in hospital after being struck by vehicle in Waterdown

An elderly man is in hospital with injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Waterdown early Tuesday morning.

Hamilton police say the collision happened shortly before 8 a.m. in the area of Dundas and Mill streets.

Investigators say a vehicle was turning right onto Dundas Street when it hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The man in his 70s was taken to hospital with a deep cut on his head. Officers say he is currently conscious and responsive.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperative.
