Drug related arrest leads to weapons charges in Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested a 23-year-old man after a drug arrest led to the discovery of a loaded firearm on Saturday.

Police say that shortly after 4:30 p.m. a Hamilton officer observed a drug transaction happening in an alleyway in the area of King William St. and East Ave.

The individual involved attempted to flee police but was later found and arrested. During a search of the suspect, police discovered a loaded firearm and a knife.

As a result, police arrested 23-year-old Chngkouth John Makuag of Hamilton who now faces 11 charges including possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.
