Hamilton police have arrested three people after a drug bust in east Hamilton last Thursday led to the seizure of fake fentanyl pills and other substances.
Officers executed multiple search warrants as part of a drug trafficking investigation, after suspecting that people were trafficking drugs from homes in east Hamilton.
During the searches, investigators seized quantities of cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and pills they believed to contain fentanyl that were pressed to resemble Bayer aspirin — a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Hamilton police have seized as part of the investigation:
Detectives say they also found replica firearms, tools associated with drug trafficking including cutting agents and digital scales, and walkie-talkies believed to be connected between locations.
As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Michael Brass of Hamilton was charged with offences including possessing cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Police also charged 41-year-old Amy Springstead of Hamilton with the same charges that Brass is facing.
Officers have charged 63-year-old Richard Kirouac of Hamilton with one count of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and one for possessing fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking.
