Hamilton police have charged a 38-year-old female driver with dangerous operation following a collision with a train in February.

Police were called shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 for reports of a collision with a train in the area of Cochrane and Hixon roads.

A 38-year-old woman reportedly drove her vehicle into the railway crossing on Cochrane as a train was approaching and collided with the eastbound locomotive.

There was a 2-year-old passenger in the vehicle at the time and Hamilton EMS Supt. Dave Thompson said paramedics transported the child to a pediatric trauma centre in stable condition.
