The Double

The Double is a dark comedy that follows Simon (Jesse Eisenberg) an introverted, utterly forgettable man whose world is turned upside down by the emergence a new colleague – who also happens to be his doppelgänger, James (also played by Eisenberg). The pair dress, and look identical but it’s James’s winning, confident personality that make them polar opposites. As James’s popularity grows at work and with Simon’s secret crush (Mia Wasikowska), Simon believes his double is trying to steal his life.

Loosely based on Dostoyeyvsky’s novella of the same name, The Double was co-written by actor/comedian Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd) and Avi Korine (Mister Lonely). Ayoade also directs, making The Double his follow up to his 2010 critically acclaimed directorial début, Submarine.

The Double is rated 14A.
