Door-to-door phone imposter

Hamilton Police issued an alert to the public Friday about a person going around posing as an employee of Bell Canada.

Around 5:00 Thursday afternoon, a man wearing a black jacket with the word “Bell” on the right side, knocked on the door of a home on Gibson Avenue.

He told the owner he was from Bell and wanted to check if the phone and tv were working.

When the homeowner said they were fine, he still tried to persuade her to let him in.

Police say the suspect tried the same thing at two other homes in the neighbourood without gaining entry.

Bell Canada said there was no work scheduled in the area and they remind the public that they don’t send people door-to-door.
