Disruptions at border crossings

Two Canadian border crossings in Ontario are operating at a slower-than-usual pace, due to job action by border guards over a new name-tag policy.

The Canada Border Services Agency says some officers at the Ambassador bridge in Windsor and the Blue Water bridge in Sarnia are refusing to work, as they question the health and safety implications of wearing a name tag.

The agency says the new policy is in line with similar ones for front line workers at the Canadian Forces and at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Travellers are encouraged to look at border wait times on the CBSA’s website — www.cbsa.gc.ca before leaving.
