Dispatcher loses suit
A 911 dispatcher has lost her court battle with Hamilton Police.
The woman was trying to sue police for publicly blaming her for botching the surrender of killer Corey Rogers.
Ironically though, until the lawsuit, Teresa Dinunzio’s name had not actually been released in any public records.
Her defamation case was tossed out by the Surpreme Court of Canada Thursday.
She was one of two civilian dispatchers to receive calls from Rogers in February of 2007.
Rogers, a wanted fugitive, asked that an officer be sent to arrest him.
But was told by both dispatchers to turn himself in.
He never showed up.
One week later, he fatally stabbed two men outside the Dizzy Weasel Bar on Barton Street.
Two other men were critically wounded.
