The Directors Guild of America joined the long list of groups handing out pre-Oscar trophies to their members (click through for the SAGwriters, and producers guild nominees). Film nominees are split into two categories, features and documentaries, while television has a few more. Because of the overlap in membership between the DGA and the director’s branch of the Motion Picture Academy, the DGA winner for best feature direction is a virtual lock for the Best Director Oscar.
