A tractor-trailer collision and diesel fuel spill has closed part of Highway 6 in Flamborough.

All lanes in both directions are closed between Concession 11 East and Freelton Road for clean-up and roadwork.

Ontario Provincial Police say the tractor-trailer carrying steel was travelling northbound on Highway 6 near Concession 12 East and struck a construction barrier, blocking the northbound lanes.

It then crossed all lanes striking the barrier on the other side of the highway, resulting in a diesel spill into the ditch and a full closure the highway in both directions.

The collision happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. and was in an area of lane reductions (one northbound, two southbound) due to ongoing highway maintenance.
