Candidate makes Devil’s Punch Bowl accessibility an issue

Hiking during the fall season can be a fun way to spend time with the family, but some paths around Hamilton can be unsafe.
A candidate for ward nine in Stoney Creek is calling on the city to make the pathways around the Devil’s Punch Bowl more accessible.
Standing 37 metres high and 10 metres wide the Devil’s Punch Bowl is third largest waterfall in Hamilton.
The basin continues to be a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers, but can be rather difficult to get to.
Besides a main path to a look out point the paths surrounding the devil’s punch bowl are mainly made up of man-made paths.
Ward nine candidate, Marie Robbins, started an online petition to call on the city to improve the pathways.
On top of upgraded pathways, Robbins hopes to add picnic tables so families and people with disabilities can enjoy the punchbowl.
Robbins petition only has 21 supporters at the moment, but she hopes all visitors will one day enjoy the longstanding local landmark.
