Delays expected as Caledonia’s Argyle St. Bridge closes for 3 days

Haldimand County officials say the Argyle Street Bridge in Caledonia will be closed daily from July 3 to July 5 in both directions while inspections take place.
The county says these are routine checks, carried out by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Starting today, the bridge will be shut down to vehicle traffic daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and open in the evenings.
Drivers are instead being asked to use the Hwy. 6 bypass or another route across the Grand River in the meantime.
In a statement released last week, county officials confirmed the bridge will remain open for pedestrian access.
Earlier this year, Haldimand County councillors voted to request a delegation to discuss the replacement of the bridge with the transportation minister at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in August.
