Death of elderly patient in Niagara hospital under investigation
Niagara Regional Police are investigating reports of a possible homicide of an elderly woman at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in October.
Niagara Health told CHCH News there was an incident involving two elderly patients at the hospital.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone involved in this tragedy. This was an unfortunate incident involving two elderly Niagara Health patients and we are awaiting the results of the Coroner’s investigation to determine cause of death. We cannot comment further as this is an active police investigation,” said a statement from Niagara Health.
Police have stated that this death makes 2024 the deadliest year in almost two decades in the Niagara region.
Officers have not laid any charges yet, and no names have been released.
