Dawn Danko named as next Ontario Liberal candidate for Hamilton Mountain
Former Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) Chair, Dawn Danko, will be nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for the Hamilton Mountain riding in the next provincial election.
Danko has served as the HWDSB Ward 7 Trustee since 2014, in addition to taking on the role of board chair.
Prior to joining the school board, Danko was a radiation therapist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, later transitioning into the role as professor in the same field.
And she’s no stranger to the world of politics, with her husband, John-Paul Danko, being the Ward 8 Hamilton West/Central Mountain Councillor.
In a statement, Danko says she is committed to “addressing the key issues in Hamilton.”
“Hamilton Mountain deserves a strong voice at Queen’s Park. The NDP, which has often represented this area, is too focused on extreme interests at a time when we need to get the essentials right.”
The leader of the Ontario Liberals, Bonnie Crombie, says Danko would be a welcome addition.
“Her experience in delivering more for Hamilton families and her track record of getting things done will make her a fantastic MPP,” Crombie said in a statement.
