Crash on highway 6 south

Wind gusts are picking up snow in rural areas of Southern Ontario, creating low visibility.

There was a crash on Highway Six South where weather may have played a role.

Police say the road conditions may have been a factor in an afternoon crash. It is extremely windy and the wind is blowing the snow across the highway causing reduced visibility and slippery patches.

The crash occurred at about 3:30. There were three vehicles involved and appears that two of them hit head on. Two people were injured and taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The air ambulance was called but it was called back when the injuries did not justify the quick transport.

The road was closed for about an hour and a half.

The OPP sent out a tweet that people should stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary due to the conditions.

It’s very hard to see the road with the reduced visibility and that reduces reaction time to recover if the road turns icy.
