Crash claims 2nd teen’s life

(Updated video:) The driver in Tuesday’s fatal crash in Freelton – Jake Vlietman, 16, of Flamborough, died late Wednesday afternoon in hospital.

Ingrid Thomas, 15, of Burlington (left), Vlietman’s passenger, died at the scene.

Vlietman (far left) was thrown from the vehicle when it left the road and slammed into a hydro pole, then a tree on the 11th Concession just east of Highway 6.

The crash remains under investigation, but police say speed and wet roads likely played a role. Police are still looking for witnesses to come forward.

A memorial for Thomas is set for Saturday.
