COVID-19 outbreak declared at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Elementary School

The city of Hamilton has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Elementary School, the city’s first outbreak in a school.

An outbreak in a school is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff.

The school, located on Hamilton Ave. on the mountain, has two cases and the board says two classrooms are closed.

The city of Hamilton says the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board is working with public health officials to facilitate case and contact tracing and manage the outbreak.
