Three more residents of a Niagara Falls retirement home have died as COVID-19 continues to spread through long term care facilities in the province.

A spokesperson from Oxford Living which owns Lundy Manor said the residents had been in hospital for the past two weeks.

In total, 15 people have died following an outbreak at the retirement home.

There are currently 41 residents and eight staff members who have tested positive for the virus. Twelve residents who contracted the virus and went to hospital have since returned to the facility. However, seven remain in hospital at this time.

“Our deepest condolences are with the families and friends of those lost to this terrible virus which is afflicting seniors across the country, and we pray for a speedy recovery of those still fighting COVID-19,” said Tim Foster, Vice President, Strategy and Business Development.

Foster says the home is working closely with Niagara Public Health and the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority to control the spread of the virus and safeguard other residents and staff.

“We advocated for additional testing and as of last week, Niagara Regional Public Health has tested all residents and staff,” said Foster.

Lundy Manor is one of several long term care or retirement homes in Niagara Region with a COVID-19 outbreak.
