Consumer electronics show

It is the start of what will be a wild and very revealing week in Las Vegas. And no it’s not what you think. The Consumer Electronics Show opened Tuesday. It’s a collection of the latest and greatest in home high-tech that we’ll all be talking about over the next several years. It’s not open to the public. But we get to sneak a peek inside and look at some of hottest items at the show.
A sea of technology and a wave of people, more than 150-thousand, flooding the Las Vegas Convention Center. which for a week has been turned in to high-tech heaven. Lyle Applbaum is a CES Attendee: “You’ve got the cutting edge products. Everybody’s releasing the new technologies today. And you know, seeing what’s coming out this upcoming year.”
A lot of the early ooh’s and ahh’s at this years show are over this gigantic 105-inch LG Ultra-hd TV with a curved screen that gives it an I-max feel and 4k resolution that many hope will bring a clear picture to an industry that’s lost its focus over the last two years. Brian Cooley is with CNET: “Sales have been trending down. So this industry is concerned about how they are going to spike us to buy a new television. they thought it was going to be 3D TV. that didn’t work.”
Another driver at this show is car tech. Cooley says: “We’re getting really close technically to the self driving car as an affordable reality.” One of the leaders on that high-tech highway, is Audi. Cooley says: “It’s got a laser camera in the front, so it actually models in 3D everything around it. So it’s got depth perception to drive safely up to 40 miles an hour by itself.” While technology, and the consumer applications, are clearly moving much faster.
