Construction workers sent to hospital after staircase collapses

Emergency crews were called to an address on King St. West near Locke St. in Hamilton for a workplace injury on Wednesday evening.
On arrival, police learned that the owner of the building had hired a construction company to work on a metal staircase.
The staircase fell on both the workers and one was apparently trapped beneath it for a period of time.
Both were transported to hospital in non-life threatening condition.
A City of Hamilton inspector went to the scene and later deemed the building safe.
The Ministry of Labour has taken over this investigation.
