Conservative MP resigns
A Conservative MP from Alberta has resigned his seat in the House of Commons.
Ted Menzies has stepped down, effective immediately. He tweeted a brief statement with the hashtag, “moving-on”. Menzies was a respected backbencher. He was first elected in 2004 and served as Junior Finance Minister in 2011. His departure leaves the Conservatives with 160 seats out of 307. Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement, thanking Mezies for his service to the party.
