The Clarence Street Bridge in Port Colborne has reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic after being struck by a vessel April 16.

A cargo ship hit the bridge while travelling down the Welland Canal. Officials say the impact scraped the side of the ship, but no one was injured.

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation says maintenance and engineering teams have worked to repair damage and carry out testing to ensure the bridge could return to service.

The bridge is now fully open and operational.
