City of Hamilton budgets over $52M for 2024 cyberattack response

The City of Hamilton has budgeted over $52 million for the next two years in its continued response to the 2024 cyber attack.

The city says that the budget will span from 2025 to 2027, which includes more than $30 million for capital projects related to the cyber incident.

The continued response will involve recovering data and applications that were lost, extra funding for projects that were delayed by the attack, and short-term implementations that address cyber risks.

The cyber attack happened on Feb. 25, 2024.
