A Dundas man has been found guilty in an animal abuse case after he was caught on video hitting his dog and dragging the animal by its leash two years ago.
Neil Stratford was convicted in a Hamilton court for causing and permitting distress to an animal under Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act.
He’s been fined $2,000 and banned from owning, living with or caring for animals for the next 15 years.
Witnesses captured video of the incident in late June 2023, leading to outrage from the local community. Provincial animal welfare officials removed the dog on July 8, 2023.
