A Hamilton city employee, who was fired after being convicted of driving a city vehicle drunk, the wrong way on Highway 403, has been given his job back.
In May of 2010, John Fougere crashed a city owned vehicle into the back of a tractor trailer.
Fougere, who blew three times over the legal limit, was convicted of impaired driving and fired from his job of 22 years.
The union representing Fougere challenged the firing and a provincial arbitrator ordered the city give Fougere his job back, saying Fougere showed remorse while arguing that alcoholism is a disability.
