City council looking at building a $7 million ‘Winter Wonderland’ in Hamilton

Hamilton city council will vote this week on a “Winter Wonderland” park on Hamilton mountain.

If approved, it would be built on West 5th between Stone Church and Rymal roads.

At issue is the $7 million price tag. The city has already spent $100 000 looking at the concept of a winter park and has hired a professional toboggan hill designer. City staff are recommending a skating loop and space for cross-country skiing to be added.

Just a few years ago, tobogganing was banned in Hamilton after a lawyer was injured and sued the city.
