Chinese student identified as victim

Video updated New details continue to emerge as the search for the man responsible for a gruesome murder goes to France.

Montreal police have identified the victim as 33-year old Jun Lin, a Chinese student at Concordia university. They also say Magnotta took a flight to Europe from Montreal last Saturday and could now be in France – but also say there is the possibility that he travelled back to Canada with a different identity and disguise.

Magnotta is a porn actor, former stripper and in 2007, auditioned for the reality TV show Cover Guy. He wrote a 2009 blog post called How to Completely Disappear and Never be Found.

Police say he is also known as Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. He is originally believed to be from Scarborough, and only moved to Montreal a few months ago. We know that Magnotta attended a number of schools in scarborough including Joseph Howe Senior Public School where he went by his birth name Eric Newman.

Montreal Police say they intend to charge Magnotta with first-degree murder and interfering with the dignity of a body. There are 190 countries helping with this investigation.
