Children of Sawaya Gardens owner hope to continue his legacy

Simcoe resident Mel Sawaya built Sawaya Garden from the ground up. Literally.

Now, he’s got 3,000 different types of annuals in his backyard, and he is considered the largest trial garden in North America.

This is the time of year where big box stores and retailers come to see what’s performing well and what will hit stores.

It’s been 17 years later since CHCH first interviewed Sawaya.

He’s now passing the torch to his children, who hope to carry their father’s legacy.
