Charges against SISO director to be dropped

There’s been an interesting development in the criminal harassment trial of former SISO director Morteza Jafarpour.

Jafarpour was to go on trial Wednesday, on charges of uttering death threats against former staff members.
But in a move that even the judge called highly unusual, the Crown and defence presented a joint submission that would require Jafarpour to remain bound by all of his current bail conditions, until November 15th – the anniversary of his 2010 arrest.
Then, provided he doesn’t break any of those conditions, the Crown would withdraw all charges against him, and the matter would be dropped.
