In the wake of the allegations against CBC radio host, Jian Ghomeshi, where nine women are accusing him of violence, sexual abuse, or harassment — Wednesday, the CBC is calling for Ghomeshi to drop the lawsuit he’s filed against his former employer.
The CBC is asking the court to dismiss the 55-million dollar lawsuit filed by the former “Q” radio host. The broadcaster says the claim is “without merit” and an abuse of the court’s process.
Ghomeshi has hired criminal lawyer Marie Henein to represent him on allegations of assault and sexual abuse. The move comes after the CBC announced lawyer Janice Rubin will head the internal review of allegations by nine women who say Ghomeshi attacked them. In addition, a former York University student alleges he was touched inappropriately by Ghomeshi when the two were students in the ’90s. Jim Hounslow says many people on campus at the time thought Ghomeshi was a “sexual predator.”
The school however, says there’s no record of any formal complaints against him. To date, Ghomeshi hasn’t been charged with anything, and denies the allegations, saying it was all consensual.
