Ukraine war in focus as Trump, Zelensky meet with G7 leaders

The G7 summit continued in France, with Ukraine taking centre stage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky joined U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders to once again highlight the need for an end to Russia’s offensive. Trump told reporters he believed both sides were “open to doing something about the war” and that “Russia should make a deal.” Zelensky reportedly offered to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the summit, but the Kremlin has repeatedly dismissed the idea of holding direct talks outside of Moscow.
