The Cats made the announcement this afternoon. General manager Bob O’Billovich thanked Bellefeuille for his efforts but said they feel the move is necessary to reach their goal of winning a Grey Cup.

Ticat wide receiver Dave Stala told CHCH News: “We finished above .500 every year, they had to make a decision, I guess they feel the coach was to blame.”

“It just comes down to who leads your team and in this case he was our leader. We just couldn’t get over that hump… as a player you just hope things work out.”

Bellefeuille has served as head coach of the Ticats since September 2008, after originally joining the team as offensive co-ordinator the year before. There’s no word yet on a replacement.
