Class-action lawyers have launched a $50 million lawsuit one day after Casino Rama announced it was the victim of a cyberattack.

The proposed suit is being led by Toronto Lawyer Ted Charney who said the “statement of claim” will be filed in Superior Court, Monday.

Casino Rama has warned its customers, vendors and staff to keep an eye on their bank accounts, credit cards and other financial information following a cyber attack.

The resort says it became aware of the situation Nov. 4.

It says customers’ credit inquiries and collection and debt information were stolen, along with employees’ information, including payroll data, social insurance numbers and dates of birth. It said vendor information was also stolen.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission says the attack was site-specific. Customers who visited other casinos don’t need to worry.

Casino Rama says there’s no indication that the alleged hacker still has access to the system, but warns that some or all of the stolen information could end up being published.
