Hamilton police have charged a 29-year-old man after a car fire and attempted carjackings on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway (Linc).
Detectives said the incident happened on Thursday night at approximately 9:45 p.m., when patrol officers came upon a car fully engulfed in flames in the westbound lanes of the Linc. The vehicle appeared to have been abandoned.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a man flee the area on foot shortly before police arrived.
While officers conducted their initial investigation, police began receiving reports of a male attempting to carjack vehicles along the Linc. Fortunately, those attempts were unsuccessful.
A short time later, detectives said they located the suspect seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle belonging to an uninvolved driver. He was taken into custody without further incident.
