A lake freighter loaded with Canadian wheat is expected to stay aground in the St. Lawrence River after a salvage operation failed.

The “Tim S. Dool” ran aground Nov. 23, on its way from Port Weller in Niagara to Quebec City, with no one reported injured.

Three tugboats tried to refloat it Friday morning, but it didn’t move.

Officials are now working on a plan to bring in barges, which could keep the freighter where it is for several more days.
